Oral Podium Presentation and Best Clinical Abstract Award:

Please join the Department of Ob/Gyn at Loyola University Medical Center in congratulating Denicia Dwarica, MD, PGY 4 on her Best Clinical Abstract Poster for her PASSION abstract, which was presented at the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) annual scientific meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 23, 2015 .

New Global Health Elective Rotation:

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Global Health Track curriculum under the supervision of Lena Wiley, MD. This three year elective rotatoin includes monthly didactic sessions with journal clubs, book club, participation at a global health conference and culminating in a four week international travel during the PGY 4 year to Guyana. Michelle Wysomorski, DO will be the first resident to complete this program and will be traveling to Guyana in March of 2016.

Fellowship Matches:

It is with pleasure and pride that we announce our newest resident successfully matching into a fellowship program. Denicia Dwarica, MD, PGY 4, has matched with Oklahoma University and will be entering her Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Program in July of 2016.

Two of our most recent graduates, Tonya Thomas and Kristin Jacobs, both matched with a FPMRS fellowship and started in July 2015.

Tonya Thomas MD is a FPMRS fellow at Cleveland Clinic.

Kristin Jacobs, MD matched at Brown's University in Providence, Rhode Island.

The department faculty and staff are very proud of all of our residents and their academic achievements.

SSOM 2015 Teaching Awards Ceremony

On Monday, April 20th, 2015 the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center held their annual awards ceremony presented by the medical students to exception SSOM teaching staff. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology was honored to have several of our faculty and staff nominated by the medical students. Dr. Cynthia Brincat, Dr. Freager Williams, Dr. Robert Levi-D'Ancona and Dr. Elizabeth Muellerwere all nominated as the attending of the year by the medical students. Michelle Wyszomorski, DO, a PGY 3 resident was also nominated for resident teacher of the year.

It is with great pride we announce that Dr. Elizabeth Mueller recieved the 2015 Attending of the Year award from the SSOM M3 medical students.

 

Assistant Residency Program Director Named:

It is with great excitement that Dr. Potkul and Dr. Wagner announced the newest member of the residency program administrative staff. Dr. Paula White has been named as the Assistant Program Director of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program at LUMC. Dr. White is a very active member of the department faculty and an avid mentor of the residents. She was chosen as the CREOG Teacher of the Year by the residents for the 2013 to 2014 academic year.

AUGS Scholar Awards:

Kristin Jacobs, MD received the 2013 Resident Scholars Award at the 34th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) in Las Vegas, Nevada. This award program is for third-year Ob/Gyn residents and fourth-year urology residents who have an interest in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Congratulations to Kristin!
