***STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THEIR OR ORIENTATION BEFORE REPORTING TO THEIR SERVICE.  STUDENTS MAY CONTACT THE CHIEF/SERVICE TO KNOW WHERE AND WHEN TO REPORT, PRIOR TO STARTING THE SERVICE.

OR Orientation                                                     (Meet in the OR , located in the Russo Bldg, on the 2nd Floor)

Group I:  9:00-11:00    Group II: 12:00-2:00   Group III: 2:00-4:00

Please change into scrubs. Wait in the locker room to meet with nurse educator.

 

   Progress Notes, H&P's, and Presenting            (Meet in SSOM Conference Room 399)

Group I:  11:30-12:30   Group II:  9:30-10:30   Group III: 10:30-11:30

Students will explain expectations for pre-rounding, writing daily notes, and H&P's on inpatient services.  Students will also facilitate practice presentations while giving examples of "pimping"on daily rounds.

 

Service Specific Information Session                 (Meet in SSOM Conference Room 345)

Group I: 12:30-1:30   Group II: 10:30-11:30   Group III: 9:30-10:30

Students will explain expectations specific to each of the inpatient surgery services that will be a part of the surgical clerkship.  They will advise students as to specific attending preferences with respect to rounding, OR time, and clinics.

 

Operating Room                                                      (Meet in SSOM Conference Room CMR 399)

Group I: 1:30-2:30   Group II: 2:30-3:30    Group III: 12:30-1:30

In conjunction with the current OR orientation sessions, students will also explain proper OR etiquette and expectations.  Students will also explain proper OR etiquette and expectations.  Students will also provide examples of "pimping" in the operating room.

 

After orientation students are to report to their service on April 6, 2010.
