CLINICAL PROTOCOLS
The Clinical Protocols site is organized and coordinated by the Center for Clinical Effectiveness to provide clinicians with tools to assist in the provision of high quality, evidence-based care. Documents available include clinical practice guidelines, standard order sets and clinical pathways developed by Loyola physicians, nurses and other professionals. You will find the name of the authoring department and the date of last revision at the bottom of each document.
Practice Guidelines are systematically developed statements to assist clinician decisionmaking about appropriate care for specific clinical circumstances.
Standard Order Sets are diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to be considered for specific patient populations.
Clinical Pathways provide a sequential overview of the activity, consultations/therapies, diet/nutrition, tests/procedures, treatments, medication, teaching/discharge planning that occur during a typical hospitalization for the relevant patient population.
It is recommended that these tools be used as a guide for care whenever a patient has an appropriate medical or surgical condition. Please note that these doucments are designed to assist you in the provision of best-practice care and are not meant to replace clinician jusgement. More information on how to use these documents can be found on the Clinical Protocols site.
