Faisal Vali, M.D-PGY 5

Chief Resident

Dr. Vali graduated form University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), Kansas City, KS. He did his one-year internship a Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Jamaica Plain, MA.  Dr Vali has been awarded the Illinois Radiological Society Resident Delegate Scholarship, 2007 and the American College of Radiation Oncology Informatics Scholarship, 2006. 
Dr. Vali has been actively involved in research and projects. He developed a Javascript-based webpage to compute appropriate PET-CT window/levels based on SUVs and calibration factors. In 2006 Dr. Vali went to the University of Wollongong, Wollongong, Australia, his project was Modeled Radiation Oncology workflow using UML2.0 (Unified Modeling Language) for developing Oncology Information Systems. Another research project he completed; Study the flow of information and the Information systems employed by various Radiation Oncology facilities in New South Wales, Australia, included were the University of Wollongong: Varis, St George Cancer Care Centre, St George Hospital, Kogarah: Varis,  Prince of Wales, Institute of Oncology, Randwick, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown.

Casey Chollet, M.D.-PGY 4

Dr. Chollet is a graduate of University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis in May 2006. She did her undergraduate education at Carson-Newman College and then completed a one-year research internship in molecular biology at Oxford University and Imperial College of Medicine in London, England.

Dr. Chollet is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), the Chicago Medical Society (CMS), and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

Dr. Chollet has been elected Chair of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) Executive Committee for the 2009-2010 academic year. She previously served as a Junior Board Member. She also serves as a board member on the ASTRO Education Committee and Education Council, representing members-in-training. In addition, Dr. Chollet is a member of both the Resident Executive Committee and Finance Committee of the American College of Radiation Oncology.

Her research interests include Stereotactic Body RadiationTherapy for the treatment of primary lung malignancies and metastatic disease as well as advances in the treatment of colorectal cancer.

Eric Kielhorn, M.D.-PGY 4

Dr Kielhorn graduated from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM), Maywood, IL in May of 2005. He did his one-year internship at Resurrection Medical Center. Dr. Kielhorn did his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  He has had several articles published, and has assisted with oncology research at Yale University. 

He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), American Medical Association (AMA), Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS), Chicago Medical Society (CMS), and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

Nathan Comsia, M.D.-PGY 3

Dr. Comsia graduated from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. He did his undergraduate education at the University of Oregon. He did his one-year internship in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center.

Dr. Comsia was involved extensively in research for Radiation Oncology at University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle that was sponsored by the American Cancer Society. His current research interests include autosegmentation contouring and adaptive radiation therapy.

Dr. Comsia is a member in ASTRO (American Society for Radiation Oncology), RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), ABS (American Brachytherapy Society), and CRS (Chicago Radiological Society).

Sophy Hernandez, M.D.-PGY 3

Dr. Hernandez graduated from Brown Medical School, Providence, RI in May of 2007. She did her undergraduate education at Brown University. She did her one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center, Boston University.

 During her undergraduate years she worked at the Breast Health Center at Women and Infant’s Hospital, where she became involved in Radiation Oncology research.

Tracy Bray, M.D. - PGY 2

Dr. Bray graduated from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2008. She did her undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University, Nashville in the field of study of neuroscience, magna cum laude. She has received Medical School Honors in Bioethics and Professionalism-Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy.

Tracey has volunteered her time to many organizations, to name a few, Chicago Catholic Charities, Special Friends in Pediatric Oncology at Loyola, International Service Immersion at Loyola University Jamaica. She has also been involved in research projects as a research assistant, and has had several journal articles and abstracts published.
