The clinic provides a comprehensive program for evaluating memory disorders. If you’re concerned about memory problems, the clinic can help you with assessment and treatment. The team consists of specialists in a variety of areas including geriatric medicine, neuropsychology, geriatric psychiatry, and social work.
What are the services?
The evaluation session includes three exams. A physical exam will include an assessment of gait, balance, and reflexes. The internist will review your medical history, especially medical problems related to memory function. Also, a neuropsychological exam with paper-and-pencil tests designed for older patients will assess attention, language, and memory. Lastly, the geropsychiatrist’s exam will consider your health history, current stressors, and family circumstances, in order to understand causes and remedies for memory problems.
In the conference session two weeks later, you will hear about your results, the team’s recommendations, treatment options, and additional resources available to you.
