About Our Social Work Internship
The primary objective of the Loyola Psychiatry Social Work Internship program is to provide interns with an intensive, multi-disciplinary, exposure to psychiatric social work. The program is designed to build on the academic curriculum and to further enhance it with additional readings and seminars, as well as extensive observation of providers and experiential learning. The internship includes an introduction to psychotherapy seminar and a reading curriculum with weekly readings. Clinical supervision is provided also on a weekly basis.

The internship is available to second year Master’s students and starts in early September each year (or late August) with a current maximum of two interns. The internship lasts through the end of April the following year. Internship days are Wednesday and Fridays from 8 am – 4:30 pm and a half day on Thursdays, from either 9 am – 1 pm or 12 pm – 4:30 or a similar schedule on Monday

The interns are each provided with an office and computer at the Fahey building on campus for most of their time, and also spend a little time at the Loyola Out-patient Center (also on campus). Parking cost $4 a day, or, interns can purchase a season-pass for a lesser rate.
