Second Annual Fall Cataract / Glaucoma Symposium
The Department of Ophthalmology, Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, conducted its Second Annual Fall Cataract/Glaucoma Symposium on September 12, 2009, entitled “Innovations In Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma Management.”
The program featured two distinguished visiting professors, Paul Palmberg, MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida was the Arthur Light, MD Lecturer and presented "Micro-Zorro: Procedures at the Silt Lamp in Glaucoma Management." Bonnie Henderson, MD, Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, Waltham, Massachusetts was the John J. Skowron, MD lecturer and presented the talks: "Controversies in Cataract Surgery” “Blue Blocking IOLs – Helpful or Harmful?" Lively panel discussions followed the keynote lectures and presented both the academic medical center perspective and community practice perspective in response to a variety of discussion topics. The program director was Dr. Anand Mantravadi and he also led the Glaucoma Panel discussions. The Panel discussion was led by Susanne Tidow-Kebritchi, MD.
