Admissions
The Molecular Biology Program
offers both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Applicants to both
programs are evaluated by the same Admissions Committee,
however applicants to the M.S. program are ranked separately
from Ph.D. applicants, taking into consideration the less
comprehensive nature of the training for an M.S. degree.
Applicants
to the Program in Molecular Biology must have completed an
undergraduate degree with a major in biological sciences
(i.e., Biology, Biochemistry,
Microbiology) or Chemistry. Undergraduate research
experience is strongly recommended.
The
applicant must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical examination, and have
the scores reported to Loyola University Chicago. It
is recommended that applicants also take the Subject Exam
in Cell and Molecular Biology but this is not a requirement. Foreign applicants must
possess a degree equivalent to a Bachelor's degree as granted
in the United States. Foreign applicants must also take
the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have
scores reported to Loyola University Chicago.
