Fellowships
Endocrinology & Metabolism
The fellowship program of the Division of Endocrinology is a training program leading to board eligibility in Endocrinology (two years). Our goal is to educate our trainees and provide them with knowledge and experience that will enable them to become competent and superb endocrinologists
Facilities:
Fellows rotate through the inpatient, outpatient and consultative inpatient services of Loyola University Hospital and Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital and several Loyola Outpatient Health Care Centers. The distribution of ages and sex in our clinics approximates their distribution among the general population with endocrine diseases. Trainees care for patients with a wide range of clinical problems and endocrine pathology. In addition to this, the fellows rotate through disease-specific clinics such as the Reproductive Endocrine, Lipid and Pediatric Endocrine clinics. They also have training in Nuclear Medicine, Cytopathology, and Clinical Laboratory procedures.
Research Experience:
During their fellowship our trainees are encouraged to participate in research projects with faculty. Our current and past fellows have presented their research at national conferences in a wide range of endocrine diseases.
Applying to Our Program:
Applicants must have three years of accredited postgraduate education in internal medicine and must be eligible for or have passed the ABIM examination.
Fellowship applications are accepted through the Electronic residency application Service (ERAS). The Web site can be accessed through www.aamc.org/eras.
Application requirements are included under resources to download within the fellowship application section.
Applications are released by ERAS for review, generally the first part of December. Applicants the faculty wish to interview will be notified by the fellowship coordinator.
