Conference Schedule
Loyola's Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency programs provide their residents and faculty with a myriad of conferences. Conference attendance is not only encouraged, it's required.

Morning Reports
Both the Medicine and Pediatric Departments have a daily morning report. Although format may vary, the typical approach involves presenting a patient as an unknown who is “worked up” by the audience, followed by an evidence-based discussion led by the chief resident. Interns, senior residents, medical students, and even fellows and attending faculty participate in these conferences.

Gen Med Morning Report
Unique to the Department of Medicine, and occurring in addition to the departmental morning report described above, is a morning report series specifically designed for residents and students on their General Medicine rotation. Besides the typical case presentation format, each session also features a brief clinical question discussion led by an individual Gen Med team. Special Gen Med Morning Report sessions include review of the online Gen Med exam, Audience Response Day, and Harvey [the heart sounds simulator] Day.

Grand Rounds
These conferences occur weekly. See individual departmental websites for conference title lists.

Clinical Pathophysiology Conference (CPC)
A weekly, senior resident-presented case involving an unusual disease or clinical presentation with attending discussion and debate. One of the finest conferences in the Department of Medicine, this lecture series occurs every Thursday at 4:30pm.

Subspecialty Conferences
Attended by residents, fellows, and attendings on subspecialty months, these conferences occur weekly for both Medicine and Pediatrics.

Noon Lectures
Pediatric noon conferences are designed to help residents prepare for boards. These lectures are given by attendings who are experts in the field.

Intern Lecture Series
In June and July, these Department of Medicine conferences are geared toward the interns to help them assess and manage acute patient problems. Examples include: seizure management, fluid and electrolyte disorders, ECG interpretation, chest pain management, and respiratory distress.
