You'll appreciate the hard work
and complexity of cases at Loyola when your experience
and skills far exceed those of the average clinician
after you graduate.

The department
has a balance of youth and experience. Senior level mid-career
faculty are present in each subspecialty area. It is making its
traditions and history daily. Members are diverse in background
and capabilities, but unified in their goal to provide excellent
anesthesiology training. Our clinical responsibilities are growing
in challenge as well as numbers. Our research is provocative and
a natural outgrowth of inquisitive minds engaged in the active
practice of anesthesiology; it is supported by a modern and expanding
medical center which aids in formulating and answering both basic
and clinical questions.
The joint
goals of this department are patient care and resident education
with research as an active complement. The best patient care is
never inconsistent with the universitys mission of creating
new knowledge (research function), integrating it into the body
of existing knowledge (repository function) and passing it onto
new generations of scholars (teaching function). To these ends,
the department has gathered a dedicated group of enthusiastic
academic anesthesiologists.
Our members
regularly contribute work to refereed journals in science, clinical
anesthesiology, surgery and critical care. They are invited as
visiting professors nationwide and contribute to recognized multi-authored
textbooks.
They are
also active lecturers with invitations to speak both locally and
nationally and several function as examiners for the American
Board of Anesthesiology. The staff is dedicated to providing the best experience
possible for the residents. Patient care, teaching and research
are areas where we strive for excellence. We look forward to sharing
our experiences with you.
