Residency
Training Clinical Base Year - PGY1
The
Clinical Base year should consist of a strong balanced program
in all areas of medicine for residents who have chosen the specialty
of anesthesiology and varies with the individuals educational
needs. Loyola University is now offering a Clinical Base Year
for incoming residents of Anesthesiology. All Clinical Base Year
rotations occur in the PGY-1 year and are completed prior to the
beginning of the CA-1 year at Loyola.
The rotations
will include:
4-6 months of Medicine
1-3 months of Surgery
1 month of ENT
1 month of Obstetrics
2 months of Surgical Intensive Care Unit
1 month of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Anesthesiology
residents will perform the same level of hands-on patient care
and work as any other PGY-1 resident on the rotation.
