Admissions
The following
information will assist students in determining their
eligibility for applying to the Stritch
School of Medicine.
Foreign Students
- All applicants must
be United States citizens or hold a permanent resident
visa at the time of application.
- Applicants who have
taken all of their undergraduate course work outside
the United States or Canada must complete at least
one year of full-time study in an accredited American
college or university before applying to Stritch.
Current Graduate
Students
- Applicants enrolled
in a graduate program must complete that program before
beginning medical school.
- If this is not possible,
graduate students must withdraw from their graduate
program or obtain a release from their department
chair before their application for admissions to Stritch
can be considered.
Non-traditional
Students
- Applicants who have
been out of school for several years are encouraged
to return to full-time study before applying for admission.
- Their recent academic
performance, combined with their undergraduate record,
will help the Committee on Admissions make its decision.
Transfer
Students
- Medical
students who wish to transfer to Stritch for their
second or third year must be enrolled in an allopathic
medical school located in the United States that is
accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
Space for transfer students depends on attrition;
therefore, few, if any, spaces are available each
year.
- Students who wish to
transfer to Stritch can contact our admissions office
beginning March 1 to request a special application.
The deadline for submitting all materials is May 1.
Applicants must take Step 1 of the United States Medical
Licensing Examination (USMLE) under the sponsorship
of their present medical school.
